The historic Abiff Lodge #21 PHA began right after the close of World War I in the minds of a few men living in and around Highland Park, MI. Brother William H. Jackson was the leader of this group. On October 18, 1919, Most Worshipful Grand Master Charles S. Cook issued a dispensation to establish Abiff Lodge U.D. in Highland Park, MI with brothers William H. Jackson as Worshipful Master, William R. Jackson as Senior Warden, Benjamin Benson as Junior Warden and 19 others as members of the craft.
On January 28, 1920, Abiff Lodge was granted a charter at the 55th Annual Communication of the Most Worshipful Union Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan with the Honorable Charles A. Campbell, Grand Master.

On April 3, 1920, a Ceremonial Communication was held in Highland Park for the consecration, dedication and installation of the officers of Abiff Lodge #21 by the Grand Lodge Officers of the Most Worshipful Union Grand Lodge.
